Mike is responsible for business development and marketing within the company. He has travelled extensively over the last ten years giving presentations to a wide variety of ship owners/ship builders and institutional/government clients and contacts.
Prior to joining MSI in 1990, Mike was employed by Lloyds Maritime Information Services, where he co-ordinated the marketing of the Division's hard copy reports to blue chip companies involved in deep sea trade and transportation. In addition, he acted as an advisor on a wide variety of shipping consultancy projects.
Mike received a B.A. Joint Honours Degree in Economics and Econometrics from Nottingham University in 1986 where he specialised in Operations Research and Natural Resource Economics.
Stuart is responsible for developing and managing MSI's modelling systems. In addition he oversees the Shipbuilding and Specialist Sector Services, as well as co-ordinating consultancy projects.
Prior to joining MSI in 1996, Stuart was Deputy Editor at the magazine Lloyd's Shipping Economist. He wrote on all aspects of the international shipping industry, in addition to having editorial responsibility for the coverage of the shipbuilding, dry bulk, tanker and liquefied gas markets.
Stuart graduated with an M.A. in Natural Sciences from Cambridge University.
Adam has overall responsibility for the integrity of MSI's databases along with quantitative research and statistical analysis for MSI's consultancy projects, modelling and forecasting tools.
Since joining MSI in 2002 Adam has developed the company's vessel valuation and forecasting capabilities across all shipping sectors. He is also responsible for overseeing the fleet supply components of the Shipping Planning Services products.
He has a Ph.D. in Theoretical Ecology from the University of Southampton, and a First Class B.Sc. Honours degree in Applied Biology from the University of Bath.
Mark is responsible for providing clients with bespoke research and advisory projects beyond the scope of our regular reports and forecasts. He has worked as a business analyst and consultant in the shipping industry for 13 years. Mark is a regular speaker at international shipping industry conferences and has made many presentations on the shipping industry to ship owners, ship builders, shipping banks and investors around the world. He is a published author of articles on shipping and operational research.
Prior to joining MSI, Mark was Director of Consultancy at HSBC Shipping Services Ltd in London where he led varied consultancy projects covering the dry bulk, tanker, container, gas, offshore, Ro-Ro, shipbuilding and ship breaking sectors. He edited the company's Weekly Commentary (a report on the shipping markets and influences upon them) and was co-author of the annual HSBC Global Shipping Markets Review. Before joining HSBC, Mark worked for five years from 1996 for MRC Business Information Group in Oxford and its parent company, Informa Plc, in London as a shipping analyst and operational research analyst. Before joining MRC, Mark was a researcher and tutor at the University of Oxford.
Mark graduated B.A. in 1992 and M.A. in 1995 from the University of Oxford. He graduated M.Sc. in Industrial and Business Studies from Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College.
Ricardo concentrates on Business Development, focusing on subscription services, in addition to working closely with Mark Williams on consultancy.
Ricargo Folgado has worked in financial services for over nine years, having recently narrowed his focus to Shipping & Commodities. He spent seven years as a Strategy Consultant at Accenture (London), and one year at HSBC (London), setting up their retail corporate development team. More recently, Ricardo spent most of 2009 in Singapore working for Marsoft, after which he returned to London to work at MSI and pursue post-graduate studies.
Ricardo graduated B.A. in 2001 from Oxford Brookes University (Business Management), has a Pg Diploma from London Business School (Corporate Finance, 2004) and is currently reading part-time for a PhD at King's College London on "The importance of Eastern Oil & Shipping to the EU Foreign Policy."
Will is MSI's dry bulk analyst, with overall responsibility for updating our forecasts and reports for our Dry Shipping Planning Service (DSPS), Bulker Freight Forecaster and dry bulk specialist sector models. Will is also often involved in bespoke consultancy and research projects.
Prior to joining MSI in 2007, Will was employed was in the liner sector, working for OOCL as an analyst in the Atlantic trade. He has a BEng Honours degree in Ship Science from the University of Southampton and is a member of the Royal Institute of Naval Architects.
Tim is responsible for MSI's macroeconomic and oil market forecasting. Specialising in the tanker sector he regularly gives presentations to clients including banks, brokers and shipowners regarding the market outlook.
With overall responsibility for MSI's Tanker Shipping Planning Service (TSPS) model and report, as well as the Tanker Freight Forecaster, Tim is also often involved in bespoke consultancy and research projects.
Prior to joining MSI, Tim worked for Shell Trading and has a B.Sc. in Economics from the University of Warwick.
Marc is principally focused on the container market, leading our research and ongoing analysis in this sector.
Prior to joining MSI, Marc experienced the shipping industry from a multiple range of angles: shipper, freight forwarder (Operations at DHL Global Forwarding) and shipping line (Trade Analyst at Hyundai Merchant Marine).
Marc holds a dual degree from Metropolitan University (in Business Management) and Paris ECCIP (International Trade & Transport) and has recently completed his MSc in International Trade & Transport at Metropolitan University.
Torran is primarily involved in collating and analysing data for MSI's consultancy projects and models, as well as contributing to MSI's regular written publications.
Before joining MSI in 2009, Torran worked as a Marine Geophysicist on seismic surveying vessels, for Clarksons Research Services as an Oil & Tanker Analyst and as a Climbing Guide. He obtained an MA in Physical Sciences from Cambridge University.
Emily is responsible for all report production, administration and account management.
